First draw out a plan of what you want to do, get paint chips from the store showing the colors, also any fabric try to get a little piece, figure out how much it will cost to do what you want to do. Can you do most of the work yourself or will you need help-be realistic(if you have never painted then admit that). Then when you have a solid plan of what you would really like talk with your parents about it. They are more likely to let you do it if it doesnt cost too much so try to keep your budget low or make some of the money yourself. If you can sew that would be a bonus if not maybe you have a friend who does. Then you could make the curtains etc.

You must remember that this is their house. After you leave they'll have to remodel it again because chances are [no offense] they aren't going to love what you do.
Are you paying for this remodel? If not, it's really not your choice. I'd say wait another four years [or however long you have to] when you move out and spend your money on what you really want.
As for the furniture just ask if YOU pay for it can you get it. I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem but when you move out remember, they're going to have to refurnish the room again which they may not like too much.
Just try to remember your parents point of view in the situation. Make up a plan try to keep it at a price you would want to pay and then present it. Don't get too upset if they still say no. Best of Luck!

Show your parents you are mature about it by raising the money to pay for it yourself and then ask. Plus pick something reasonable. If you want to remodel to extreme there will be a higher chance of them saying no. Good Luck!

look around on an online catalog for the type of stuff you want, then save up enough money to get whatever it is that you want -paint, furntiure, etc. then talk to them about it again. start by saying something like, "Mum, Dad, I've saved up some of my money to remodel my room. I'm getting older now, I I think I've earned this, everything's already picked out too! What do you think?" don't lose patience or lose your head. go on calmly, rationally. good luck ;) !

Well if they say no then lemme tell you want to do, Lock the door, Change up your room to the way you want it. Unlock the door and go on with your life like nothing happened. If they get pissed at what you did i assure you that they are not gonna waist time from their day to put it back to the way it used to be. They will be mad for 1 maybe 2 hours then they will get over it, And you will have your new looking room.

The Question involves some economic issues.
When my son has an idea he usually thinks about how good is going to be for him, and "The Money To Do It?", I don't meant to say that money it all it matters, but that is a hit to your parent pocket. Take this approach, Negotiate. Ask you mom: Can I just paint my room? ................... and you can connect the dots.

Tell them you will do all the work. Maybe they can't afford to buy new furniture so maybe you can look at some thrift stores for some good furniture. You can find really cool stuff if you look. And make sure that you take care of your stuff.

Stuff like that costs money...maybe that's the issue. And they might want to make sure your room is done right.
I would ask them if that's the issue, then go from there.
