It must be D) $1.11, because nine cost $9.99, which is less than $10, and ten cost $11.10, which is more than $11. Nine $1.12 items cost $10.08, so E) is out. Ten items costing $1.00, $1.02, or $1.10 cost at most $11, not more, so A), B), and C) are also out.

It must be D.

9 x 1.11 = 9.99 i.e. <10

10 x 1.11 = 11.10 i.e. >11
