Unless you've been smoking 3 packs a day for the last ten days, I don't think you'll have much of a problem quitting cold turkey. Usually it becomes a struggle to go cold turkey after several months of constant smoking.

Since you have been smoking for such a short period of time it shouldn't be too hard. And it is great that now you are realizing it is not a healthy habit instead of 10 years from now when you could do some real damage. I smoked on and off for 13 years and one day decided my health was more important. I quit and never looked back. I kept myself really busy and stayed away from situations where I would want to smoke. Hanging out with friends who smoked at times they would likely smoke. Bars, clubs, etc. It isn't as hard as it sounds. Once you realize your life is much more important I think you will do great! My dad quit cold turkey when his colleague one day at a meeting opened his shirt and showed him a scar from his neck to his belly button from open heart surgery needed because he had compromised his heart and lungs from smoking. And my dad had smoked for 30 or more years. He really wanted to live to see his grandchildren. Good luck!!

I heard actually eating cold turkey can help. I know you think I am joking but I am quite serious, and I also feel that I am a licensed authority on this matter. I quit smoking 3 years ago, and that is how I did it. I sat down and said "Ok you bastud, you eat turkey until you get sick!, you like smoking so much!" I was yelling at myself (which is very important in the process) and even punched myself a few times. It was quite painful, I even developed another personality while quitting, and sometimes would say "I need a cigarette!" and the the other person in me would slap me. It works! Try it!!

For 10 years I was a pack-a-day smoker. 10 years ago I quit. It was so hard, I am not going to lie to you. I highly recommend the patch. It really took the edge off. You still have to be determined.
I "slipped up" about 4 times! Don't be hard on yourself if you do. Just keep moving forward! The cravings will eventually die. (they really will!)
Good Luck! and Congratulations!!

I quit 2 months and 2 weeks ago. I just stopped. After the 3rd day, it wasn't bad, but those three days sucked. I still think about smoking(because my girfriend does), but it is not so mentally consuming anymore...I and you can beat it. Remember to stop smoking, you just don't have to buy cigarettes, and it's easy to do nothing

Keep yourself busy. Drink lots of water to flush out the nicotine and toxins. Try not to hang around with people who will be smoking around you. Try not to cheat, it will likely make you relapse back into smoking again. That's the problem I usually have, I'm trying to quit myself. Just don't give up! Good Luck
