Well, having been through that exact same thing when I was just a bit younger than you are now (I'm 67 now), first I looked at where I was then had a serious talk with myself about where I wanted to be and how to get there to make me happy.
Only you can determine what it is you want to do, but make it something you are interested in doing so you can love your job... and look beyond your current field of work... or even an associated field... pick something that you would REALLY like to do, then figure out how to do it.

Look in Daltons Weekly or businessesforsale.com to get some ideas. I did something similar 3 yrs back and now own a village shop/PO in the Peak District and love it.

I am sorry to hear of your loss
contact you local community college guidance counselor and talk to them about career ideas
Look at your daughter for inspiration- she lost her Mom and is looking at you for providing for her physical , emotional AND financial care
you cant let her down and make her suffer because you're not too sure what you want to do re: work

A few thoughts on this:
1 It is never too late
2. Follow your heart - if you are emotionally committed then at least you will feel fulfilled.
3. Take professional advice
Good luck

I always chose by what I wanted to do - it was not always financially the best choice but I have had an enjoyable life. I was an importer when I wanted to travel etc etc...
Decide on a goal too - but damn, you may only go around once, go for happiness..

This would mean finding your own talents but a lot of older people I know after getting bored with their jobs, go into teaching.
Have you ever thought about that?
It can be very instrinsically rewarding!

there is a site online where you add your cv and the companies come looking for you, i think it is monster.com plus your local job centre may be online as well and you should be able to apply for any positions via the website
good luck

Why don't you buy a pub - if you can stand the working hours - or some other people orientated business.
