example- whats 43% of 81?
are there different ways beucase all of you are doing it ether by changing the percent to a decimal then multiplying the decimal by the whole number....but then some are multiplying the numerator by the denominator and them multiplying it by 100...but what i dont get for that one is that if you to like do 8 divide by 10, and multiply by 100...that doesnt make 80?

The word "percent" means "per 100".
So 43% means 43 / 100.
In math, "of" sometimes means "multiply".
So 43% of 81 means 43% multiplied by 81.
Which is the same thing as (43 / 100 ) times 81.
Which is the same thing as 0.43 times 81.

You are getting a bit confused by lumping different things together. If your problem is with percentages, then the answer is as follows: "Percent" or the symbol "%" means a value is expressed as a fraction of 100. For example, 10% = 10/100 = 0.1. Conversely, if you are given a fraction and asked to express it as a percentage, you first covert fraction to decimal form and then multiply by 100. For example, convert 1/3 to percentage: 1/3 = 0.3333333... = 33.33333 %
43% is the same as 43/100 or 0.43 as decimal
Therefore, 43% of 81 = (43/100) * 81 = (43*81)/100

1) to find the percent of a number: divide the percent by 100 and multiply that number by the number you are trying to figure the percent of: Example: to figure 43% of 81 divide 43 by 100 and multiply by 81 (43/100=.43, .43 X 81=34.83)
2) to figure what percent one number is of the other, simply divide the first number by the second and then multiply by 100.
Example: 8 divided by 10 multiplied by 100
(8/10=.8 , .8 x 100= 80%)
so, you had that part figured right. 8 is 80% of 100!

Yes it dose equal 80 If you take 8 divide it by 10 that give you 0.8 then you take that number and multiply it by 100 it is 80 the easy way to get percent is take the 43% and make it a decimal and times the 81 that the easy way.

Mulitply the number by the percent in decimal form:
81 * 0.43 = 34.83
The thing to keep in mind is that a percentage is just another notation for "out of 100." In other words, the percentage is the number divided by 100:
27% = 27/100 = 0.27
In your example, 8 divided by 10 = 0.8. Multiply that by 100, and you get 80. So, 8 divided by 10 = 80%.

just remember that percent is always over 100. so 43% is 43/100. or you can convert it to decimal, to do it just remember to move the decimal point 2 places to the left. so 43% is equal to .43. Then also remember that in math, the word "of" usually means "to multiply". So it'll simply be 43/100 * 81= 3483/100 = 34.83 or .43 * 81=34.83.
This is the simplest way to do it, you can use ratio and proportion but you'll be using algebra on that technique which wold make it more complicated.

Find the amount when the base and percent are known
amount = base x percent
The base is 81
Convert 43% to decimal
Remove the % sign. Divide 43 by 100
43/ 100 = 0.43
Multiply 81 by the decimal
81 x 0.43 = 34.83
The amount is 34.83
34.83 is 43% of 81
