Why is it just dead beat dads ? It takes two to make a marriage work and the same two to ruin it and usually there are children involved. I really think people should put the blame and responsibility on the person who caused the marriage to break - up. If the mother cheats on the father and there are children involved in this and the mother gets the children after all is said and done then why in the ----- should the father have to be the one made to pay. I think the one that cheated is the one that should bare all of the responsibility. Just because the man makes more money he can pay. It's wrong and most of the time these lady's with children are on welfare.... Get a job..... you did it. You cheated, you lied, now you do it all and explain to your children why their daddy left and why they are on welfare and why you don't have a good job to support them and why you can't buy them the things they want cause.. you did what you wanted to with someone else while you were married.

you are sooooo right on the money. I've been yelling about this for years. I call it legalized prostitution.

in addition to your scenario there are the women who find a way to get pregnant (they told him they couldn't or that they are on some un failable method of birth control). then they soak him for child suport for the next 18+ years.

the lawyers need to be shot.

Regardless of who was wrong in the relationship, it is no excuse for a real man to desert his child(ren). I do however have a problem with the fact that no one talks about the deadbeat mothers that are out there. My best friend's son's mother left them when his son was 8 months old and has never returned. She now has two other children and still never comes to she her son. Who is almost 11 years old. The breakup of a relationship should not stop any parent from loving and taking care of their child.

Well, mine was a mean person. He is the reason I left and tried to accuse me of cheating on him when we had already separated. It took over 2 years to get the divorce because he wanted to contest custody over my child. He got it written up to where he pays me instead of the courts. So he gets to pay me when he feels like it and won't even come up with the $200 a month that they told him to pay. He does take advantage of his visitation rights. I've begin to care less and less. The more angry you get a someone, the more it makes you feel bad and bitter yourself. I just have a problem with men making babies and not wanting to do their part in taking care of them.

yep, it's quite simple. Get married to some guy that makes okay money, then dump his *** and make him pay for your crap. That's the way our court systems work these days....Guys get screwed. It's life.

I have only 6 months left to pay on child support after 16 years of close to 800 bucks a month! YEAH FOR ME. Thats a house payment.

Because Gizzmo any good parent would know to keep the bs of the break up seperate from the children. They ought to pull their heads out of their selfish little asses and realize that the children shouldnt have to suffer because of their stupid acts and if you dont get that then you should get therapy or never have kids becaus they dont deserve vindictive hurtful parents.

i've always wondered why, in custody disputes, the man has to prove the he's not a drug addicted alcoholic wife beating child molester while all the woman has to do is have a vagina. why are women always considered the better parent? and why is it that people are always complaining about deadbeat dads yet no one complains when women refuse to allow the father of their children visitations?

um...children shouldn't be punished for their parents mistakes. Sure if the mom screws up she doens't deserve someone paying her bills, but those kids sure as hell don't deserve to go without. There's not really a way you can punish a parent without punishing the kids.
