Since your country/government controls the world through its military industrial complex/proxy wars (military bases in over 130 countries), how many capital cities around the world can you name? I ended up with around 80-90...and am under 30.
there are roughly 290 countries...

Can you name ANY Chinese capitals or provinces? Or do you want to embarrass yourself even further?
Walt Whitman would be ashamed of you.

I only got about 60-65, with some obvious rust, since I haven't looked at a map recently.

However, I don't think your number of 130 countries is correct. We only have significant bases in a very limited number of countries. Can you cite a reference for this number?
-------
No, that's not how things work. [chuckle] Since you are the one making the claim, you should be able to support that claim. I'm the challenger of your claim. So... produce! :) There are only 50-60 major installations outside the US, and they are located in only 16 countries:
Italy, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Bahrain, Cuba, Greece, Iceland, Diego Garcia (not really another country).

If we add the few additions of the past years - Iraq & Afghanistan, that's still less than 20.

Tell me about the other 100+ odd countries with bases. C'mon!

I can name many of them, but of course I took a few Geography classes in college...I would not say that the reason why Americans can not name country capitals on the Government, but the public school system...I was lucky that my parents supplemented my education (Father has PhD in History), or I might be like some Liberals on here who do not know history or civics...I also supplement my children's education with what I know...so they will not have to work a McDonald's after high school and will be able to have an original thought that they did not get from a Comedy Central show...but South Park does let those hippies and San Fransisco types have it, don't they?

This is more than like a Degree rated question than a Trivial one... BUT I get your point.

Some of us will have trouble naming the Capitals of South American countries let alone around the world.

For a teacher you didn't come up with a very good question for this format. The questions are usually longer than most of the answers. Another thing, I'll bet you don't even read the answers, especailly the ones that actually answer your question.

No apple from me today teacher. Can I be excused from class now?

HA! 'The benefiet of an American Education system"! I live in America, and it's got to have one of the worst education systems in the world! There is actually a show premiering on FOX that's called "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?" WTF? And we've *supposedly* "elected" A monkey who got to Yale through Lineage! We also have for a president a Bonesman! As in the Yale Society, THE Skull and Bones! Well, what do YOU think. Don't ask me to be smart anyway the freeworld is being held in the hands of puppets.

I'm 41. I can come close to 100% on countries which were in existence when I learned the capitals back in HS. I'm not so sure about the former Soviet and Yugoslav republics, however.

Americans don't even know the capital of their own state, let alone of other countries. You give us WAY too much credit.

Who cares? The only country that matters is THE UNITED STATES. Just ask our great leader. How many US state capitals can you name there, smart guy.

Now, allow me to retort:

Yeah, it's a wonder what google can do, aint it?

AND I DON'T WANT TO KNOW, BECAUSE I DON'T CARE!!! So you see, it's not a matter of ignorance, but rather the matter of a lack of interest. Get over yourself and get a life.
