let's say a 17 year old decided to runaway. The parents put out a search for him/ her, but they have no luck. What happens when he/ she turns 18? Will he/she still be in any sort of legal trouble for breaking the law at 17? When one turns 18, will they be able to get job or leave the country?

*how would a warrant be cleared? Would someone have to ask for it, or would it be done automatically?

*New Jersey is the state. I'm pretty sure it's against the law here without a parental consent, pleace correct me if i'm wrong.I'd like to be.

Warrants are not normally issued for "runaway juveniles" unless there is a more severe offense involved.

If there is a complaint of a runaway....law enforcement will provide a nationwide alert through what is known as the NCIC system.

In the United States there is what is known as "Age of Consent" and "Age of Emancipation." Most states recognize 18 or 19 for emancipation which is an age of which parents are no longer responsible for the actions of their children.

One can "Self emancipate" earlier by taking steps to remove themselves from parental support.

Check the laws of your state under the emancipation code to determine your states age!

Best wishes!

it depends what law was violated for and what reason they ran away for at the time a lot of runaways leave for different reasons but once they turn 18 if they are qualified with any training to find work they might be able to apply for a job but they might not get one all though

More than likely it would change from a runaway situation to a missing person situation.....until the person contacts the authorities and tells them they are ok and don't want to have any contact with those that are trying to find them.
