Try fine cornmeal. They take back to the nest but can't digest it. They croak.

Hire an exterminator. They not only provide a quick solution, but a long term one, dealing with ants, the colony on the outside needs to be found as a preventative measure. Most exterminators have human and pet friendly solutions.

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water.

Give the tiny black intruders a fatal but unchemical case of indigestion...mix 1/3 cup molasses, 6 tablespoons of sugar, and 6 tablespoons of active dry yeast together in a small bowl until they form a smooth paste. Coat strips of cardboard with the mixture or pour it into individual bottle caps and place in and around the infested area. We use to have this problem...not anymore! :)

Ant traps. They crawl in and can't get out. The ones that do carry the poison back to the hill. Put them on your counters. No need to worry about kids and dogs.

Call in pest control and find out where the ants nest is,.. if they're in you kitchen in fairly big numbers, there's bound to be a nest down there somewhere. Best find it before your floor caves in.

I bought a ant spray that you just spray around your house and I do it once year and I bought it at walmart. I have kids and a dog and have not had any problems.
