The U.S. sure didn't show much "honor" when it turned it's back on the rest of the world and invaded Iraq.

What honor ? the one they earned in killing over 200,000 people ? or the one they won in having over 3000 men and women die for a lie and greed and over 30,000 get mutilated and handicapped for life for a mad man's imperialist dream ?

History repeats itself. Remember this saying ? Imperors, Kings, Dictators, all have tried to invade other countries, and bring riches and hopes and new rules with them and guess what happeneed to them.... they went back where they came from with their tail between their legs. Cesar, Napoleon, Hitler, Pinochet... Bush .... and others to come..honor in having the wrong dreams, honor in assasinating, honor in wanting to glorify their names for perpetuity...

Putting a few Neo Cons behind bars would go a long way to restoring honor to the mission in Iraq.
The only honorable mission left in Iraq is that of reconciliation reconstruction for the disaster the Neo Con manufactured.

We have an ethical responsibility to the people of Iraq but our continued efforts there should in no way continue to support the Neo Cons ambitions for exploitation there.

I think all which is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan are consequences of a very wrong way US picked so many years ago. When USSR invaded Afghanistan, American strategists and Saudi royal family got together and established a group of fundamentalist muslims to fight against soviet union. They did kind of similar thing in Iraq against iran. the disaster happened when US was done with these groups. Middle east in hands of well-organized armed fundamentalists. Now US wants to get rid of his kids in middle east, unfortunately, by military solutions instead of a reasonable one. If Americans knew about the origin of those who did 9/11, they would see honor has been the missing ring of the middle east chain stories.

There is no way to leave Iraq with honor. The rationale for going there was a lie. The country in infinitely worse than it was under Saddam. Hundreds of people are dying and being tortured every day. Those with with the ability and the means are leaving the country. The only question remaining is how much shame there will be in the manner of withdrawing from there.

It would require two things:

1) An apology to _all_ muslim nations (and staying out of their affairs in other countries, ie. Iran).

2) The US's war criminals being sent to the Hague and tried. And when I say war criminals, I'm not talking about low-level patsies, I mean all the clowns in the Whorehouse: Bush Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzalez, Rice, etc.

The world forgave Nazi Germany because it's criminals were caught and tried, they and their country showed contrition. Until the US does, they'll be as reviled as Japan was and still is in some nations.

For example, Japan _still_ won't admit culpability or pay compensation for the "comfort women". The US needs to leave Iraq and make reparations.

Bingo! I couldn't agree more. However I don't listen to hard to, people who just pop up every now and then to scare the public and lie to us while displaying an arrogant smirk. Not much honor in shooting a friend in the face and expecting the friend to apologize for being in the wrong position when "Dick" ( the avid hunter) pulled the trigger. You know what I think would be "Honorable"... admitting to ones misunderstanding of the word "honor" and show a desire to emulate the word ...maybe by spending some of his cash rebuilding the Gulf Coast, take better care of our soldiers ( now and after they come home...if they come home), little things like that! Ever hear of that saying " it all starts in your own back yard" ? By the way...where does that guy hide?

This war contributes a part in the "clash of civilisation".Both are
crooks and they must suffer losses just like the Kshatriyas at
the time of "Great war of Mahabharata".The Muslims behaved
like savages when they were strong and the present generation
of Muslims must suffer for the wrong done by their fore fathers.
We also want that America should also suffer so that their strength
gets reduced and the world can remain peaceful. But since
"Dharma" is with the Iraquis we want USA should not be allowed
to leave Iraq "with honour".

President Cheney tells Bush what to do and Bush does it. We've gone from being a country that had the sympathy and support of most of the world after 9/11 to now being reviled and considered the aggressors.

The Iraqis felt betrayed when the US didn't honor its implied commitment to help them overthrow Saddam in 1990. So, the invasion of 2003 was a belated action from their point of view.
If the US leaves now, it will be even more clear that the US can't be counted on.

We disrespected and disregarded the UN which we were so adamant in creating. I wonder what we would think of another UN member who would do the same? Mo wonder other countries consider us arrogant. George Bush made sure of that.
