You might not like this answer and you may get some telling you about the mechanics of neuron firing habits to the synapses and such, but these are only the symptoms so to speak.

The real cause is that our emotional energy over-rides the intellectual energy. It is approximately 10,000 times faster in frequency. So when you want something the message or order gets through and manifestation is guaranteed and instant. As long as there is no contradiction, that is. You can always change your mind, so to speak, since you are really simply changing your order. Briefly, the only reason some orders do not manifest is because contrary or negative energy wipes them clean, just like when you call in an order to a furniture store and then call them back to cancel it.
There is no need to figure out exactly what thought brought you the 6:40 a.m. manifestation, though you may be able to remember it later. The point is to place a new order in a positive way. Making this as emotional as possible would then be the best. Frustration is negative, so the dominant and maybe habitual emotion around the thought of getting up at 7:00a.m. is now sabotaging your order.

So before going to bed (preferably allowing sufficient sleep time so that you don`t encourage other negative thoughts) take a quiet minute and creatively imagine yourself waking up at exactly 7:00 a.m. and celebrating the fact that you were able to be in control. See yourself looking at the clock and it showing exactly 7:00 a.m.
Then just forget about the issue and enjoy the feel of the pillow. If you follow these steps, I promise you that you will be successful. You will then be in the glorious position of being able to realize that you can change anything in your life in the same way. There are many processes that you can learn to achieve various types of corrections and I will recommend the place to discover them below. Enjoy.

i have the same problem, but i wake up at 5:00 am , the reason is that your body has a build in alarm clock, and you also problem have to go to the bathroom as soon as you wake up too. they say that the Indians use to drink alot of water before bed so that they would wake up early " because they had to go to the bathroom" try not drinking anything 2 hours before bed and go to bed a 1/2 hour later. after about a week this should fix the problem

I have a solution. For the next 2 weeks, set the alarm for 7-00 am
and afterwards, it becomes a habit to your brain and you start waking up at 7-00.
It really works!

Because you are used to it. It is your circadian rhythms, sometimes called your biological clock. It is what causes jet lag when you go to another time zone. It is time to get up back where you came from so even though it is only 2:00AM where you are now, your body wakes up. For some reason your body has gotten used to waking up at 6:40 and now it wants to do that all the time.

Just wait until you're 50. Then you'll be waking up a 3:40 am every morning, like it or not.

its became a habit. your body clock is used to waking up at 6:40 am. so even without an alarm, clock your body starts stirring at around that time... even if you sleep late at night. you can adjust your body clock but it will take some time before you can get used to it.

You've set your biological clock.

We all have an internal clock of sorts that wakes us up at different times. Mines at 0500

May be you are sleeping early at night or may be you woke up regularly at 6:40 a few months or days back.

i would say your internal clock is set, don't get frustrated
make the most of it, get a jump start on the day, stretch, get a 15 min. walk in first thing in the morning.
Blessings!
