You are right! The concept of Democracy would suggest that all people in that Democracy would be equal. The bad people and thugs would "chose" to be led by a thug or bad person by a majority vote. The voice of the people will dictate how they live, in theory anyway. Governments should fear "the people"...the people shouldn't fear "their" Government. Just like my mom would say..." I brought you into this world...I'll take you out!"

Yes Democracy is a good thing. If a thug was voted in then that thug is representing their community. Do all the other communities have to deal with that thug? No they don't. But at least everyone had the freedom of choice.

Thugs don't tend to vote. If there was not democracy you'd get more thugs as leaders than without. Look at Castro. He's a big thug.

Since democracy is government of the people, by the people, in a majority-rules fashion, then no one community could ever completely take over the entire country. That's a little extreme.

Democracy is good, but you can't just hand democracy to someone. They have to want it for themselves. And if democracy is not reborn in the hearts of the people generation after generation, they will come to take it for granted and end up squandering this wonderful privilege. I fear that if America were seeking a democracy today, we would fail, because our people no longer have the heart for the struggle it takes to bring it about.

With intelligent thinking voters, it is a good thing. With indoctrinated sheeple voters, it becomes a socialist mess or the EU. At that point it is no longer a democracy.

Democracy, however bad its operators are is good. It allows for freedom of association, freedom of speech and freedom to fundamental human rights. What form of government can be better?

It was originally good-in ancient Greece. But in today's US or in Israel (most of the population of which is based on people who left their countries of birth for some mysterious ideology), I am not sure it is good.
