How does one do they steps in detail please to overwrite data?
Format the hard drive.
Then overwrite every sector on the HDD with data,
Then format again.

If u have windows xp or windows 2000 CD put it in.Boot from ur cd room .Then follow the instructions of setup.There u can find the option of formating it .There are 2 Options.Slow or Quick.Make it slow.
Otherwise if u have windows98 or Millinium.Boot from cd room and when command promt comes.write there.Format driver name and Enter.

partition magic i know has a secure erase feature that will zero all the data on a drive ... thats what i use ...and its easiest to hook the drive up as a slave to another pc then use partition magic to secure erase it ... make new partitions .. secure erase it agian if ur worried ...
