ABOUT 4.5 BILLION YEARS

2007-02-21 01:15:18 · answer #1 · answered by Phil Magroin 2 · 2 1

Four or five billion years according to some scientific estimates. Other self appointed authorities place its creation at 5-7 thousand years ago. I personally have no clue how either group figured it out. I am extremely hard pressed to file my income tax forms without getting a migraine, let alone try to calculate the age of the Earth. I know for a fact that it is at least 61 years old because that is how long I have been here.

According to a theory that is BIGBANG theory it is said to around 15million years ago a big bang taken place by which glaxies are formed after that at the age of dinosaurs a big astroid hit the earth and turn earth into round shape. it is because of the explosion which takes plce before around 12 million years ago......
according to scientists.

The Earth was formed around 4.57 billion years ago[1] and its natural satellite, the Moon, was orbiting it shortly thereafter, around 4.53 billion years ago. The outer surface is divided into several tectonic plates that gradually migrate across the surface over geologic time spans. The interior of the planet remains active, with a thick layer of convecting yet solid mantle and an iron core that generates a magnetic field
this is according to me.

The earth is about 6 or 7 thousand years old, all that stuff about the earth being 4.5 billion years old is trash.

No one knows for sure.

A long time... longer than I've been on it.

Mankind has been around at least 10,000 years, because there's recorded history that goes back that far.

I believe in creation... but I also don't believe in a literal 7 "day" sequence. I don't think that creation necessarily conflicts with evolution.

God can do things any way he wants... If it suited his whim, he could create a big bang, let stuff develop for a while.. guide a rock here or there to influence the results and OO, neat. we have galaxies. Lets play with one... Hmmm.. push a couple of ice meteors around. Cool we have a planet with water on it. Guide some goo and zap it with lightning. ITS ALIVE! I'll let that "cook" for a couple million years... catch some ZZZ's... Hmm.. there's lots of stuff going on, but its not what I want. BIG ROCK.... mass extinctions... Ah here we go... we have some INTELLIGENCE forming... Let me pick this group and see what I can do with them... Shovel some extra grey matter between the ears and...

PRESTO!

MAN!

Religious idiots will tell you the earth was 'created' about 4 - 6 thousand years ago.

The real number is closer to 4 - 5 billion years ago.
