I just saw an article where the I.Q. of various famous people were evaluated. While philosopher Blaise Pascal is believed to have had a stellar I.Q. of 195, Andy Warhol placed last with a near-moronic 85. Does anybody know anything about who makes these evaluations and why Warhol was thought to be this dumb? Why?

First, the IQ test isn't an all-inclusive indicator for someone's intellectual capacity. It's a rough system, and shouldn't ever be used as a final verdict in a person's ability to learn, live, or inspire.

Second, this sounds more like the article is "guessing" at what their subjects' IQ's were, which is nothing more than someone's rough guess about a rough guess about someone else's intelligence through apocryphal sources.

Pascal and Warhol were both geniuses, but in different ways. The thing is, Pascal was a mathmetician who produced testable genius. Warhol made art, which is wholly subjective. Even taking that into consideration, I've never heard anyone call him "dumb" or "stupid."

I don't know where they get these evaluations from, and frankly, I think they are crap. People just write things to write things anymore. They don't care about facts, they want controversy. That is probably the main reason why he is assumed to have such a low IQ. But if it is based on imagination, intuitiveness, or just pure knowledge, he would have trouble making it anywhere near the top of the list. Look at who he was up against. You compared him to a philosopher, which by name alone automatically puts his intelligence above an artist. Not to say that it is right, but that's how the world views the two areas of expertise. Not to offend you if you are a Warhol fan, but for an artist, I always thought he was seriously lacking in imagination. Being an artist, you have the ability to create new worlds, or to make something ordinary look exquisite. Warhol made silk screens of Marilyn Monroe and painted soup cans. I admit, he made an attempt to take an ordinary object and do something special with it. But when I look at it, I still just see a soup can. I honestly think he was just boring. I wonder where an artist like Van Gough would be on the list. Sure, he was insane, but genius has always flirted with the insane. There is a very thin line between the two.

What makes you think I am or any one else for that matter or that they are all Republicans as if there are no democrats either .... generalize much !!! Democrats are just for it because Republicans aren't , it's part of the political game to fool people into thinking Democrats actually care while Republicans don't , gets more money & votes that way too ... ROFL ! And people who take the Bible or any other religious book full of stories , seriously , has a lot more to learn.
