i have been told my clutch has gone on my car an been quated 300 in total(150 for clutch and 150 for labour) for it to be repaired a i was wondering if i could find clutch myself cheaper as price for this does not seem right,y wud this garage charge same price for labour and part, does anyone no the list of full parts i need to replace the clutch do i just look for a full clutch kit or what? thanks

its for hyundai coupe v reg 99 1.6 its someone i know so r they giving me a good price just rang hyundai an the quated 490 all in

have another couple of quotes from different garages try your local clutch fitting centre or nationwide auto centres as these are pretty competitive when it comes to prices

that's a very reasonable price for the total job... some shops won't stand behind the work if they don't purchase the parts...a typical clutch job consists of a new pressure plate and disk along with a throwout bearing and should include a resurface on the flywheel

£300 sounds about right if its a new and not reconditioned clutch!
If you get a cheaper quote you will probably find half of your gearbox nuts n bolts in the fitters tool box when you drive away!

You didnt say what car but you cant get a clutch for less.as a matter of fact i dont believe you can get one for that price unless it rebuilt or used..

the markup on parts is another place they make money, check and see if your car has a pilot bearing in the flywheel, also resurfing flywheel cost extra, get it in writing,
