The New England area (the East Coast) is awesome, but New York is a pretty expensive place to live. Not to mention HUGE and very populous. California of course is great but expensive as well. If you are looking to save money, go somewhere in the South (i.e. Texas, Alabama...). Good luck!

That would all depend on you (what weather you prefer and what you can afford and such).
California's got pretty high state tax. It's got great weather though. But since I live in the mountains it's not that great (freezing in winter and up to 120 degrees in the summer). The thing is, it's WAY too exspensive to live in the parts of cali where there is great weather. A little shack is worth a million dollars...
However, I heard that the house prices should be going down soon. Also, California's got the highest requirements for its schools in the U.S. So, basically, children here get a good education (besides the high school drop outs who are mostly dropping out because of math or flunking because of the newly added CAHSEE test).
But, I hear that a lot of people love it in California. It's strange though cuz where I live it doesn't seem like they're happy at all. I live in cali but I'm moving to Nevada.

That's alot to ask. Maybe you should add some details to what you like....weather, music, food, city/country, transportation preferences....
Philly is nice - it's where I'm from. Good Food. Good People (they're tough, though) - hour to the beach hour to the mountains...all in all it's great - BUT I HATE SNOW!!!! If my whole family didn't live here, I'd be living in San Diego for sure. Their food is ok but not the same. The music scene is great in both places but it's all that sunshine that won me over...plus everyone there is good looking which is always nice :-)

Tampa Bay, Clearwater or Orlando. There are alot of English living in these areas and even more who are holiday makers there. Why? It is a wonderful place with wonderful weather. Avoid Miami unless you speak Spanish and like to go clubbing and pubbing, if you do then Miami is your bag mate.

You should try Alabama. "Southern Hospitality" still rules down here. Everyone says hello and waves on the roads. The food is great and the weather is pleasant and mild throughout the year. We have mountains and beaches and it's cheaper to live here.

I currently live in northern California, and love it here. The people are very laid back and friendly, you can't find that as much in southern cali. The east coast is alright, they have some small nice towns in north carolina, and maine but I find there's more racism over there. Not a ton, but more.

Come to So. Cal!! You'd be within short distance to all the cool amusement parks, the beach, good skiing, good surfing, good shopping(!!!), plenty of sporting events - and there's always something going on (parties/good gigs in LA, antiquing and arts in Laguna, snorkeling in La Jolla, good food everywhere).
And you'd be only a few hours from Vegas, Catalina Island, Tijuana or Frisco, when you need a quick getaway.
Be sure to let us all know where you decide to go!!
