I've been offered a management position at Superdrug, so thought I'd gauge people's opinions on the brand in general... personally, I think it's improved a great deal and the stores look far better than they used to.

Well, the brand has improved it's image and being cheap and cheerful isn't necessarily a bad thing - the brand is perhaps more aimed at the lower end of the market , i.e. working class consumers - this doesn't make it a cheap brand without dignity. Branding is just one of many marketing tools to assist in making money in a business - I would say superdrug has done pretty well.

It definately has improved in that its no longer the 80s navy blue and yellow sign that not so well off people went to. Now, it's targeting the lower end of the social scale and younger shoppers.

Some of its products are cheap and cheerful, competing against Boots however, it's the same as shopping at Waitrose or Tescos. You have the stores own brands as well stocking well known brands.

It's possible that some of the products made are also made for Boots or any other cosmetic companies.... that's where the consumer is fooled.

Their market position has always be cheap and cheerful but they have dragged their image up in the last few years. If they aren't careful they might reposition and lose their niche.

I like cheap and cheerful, I percieve boots as over priced.
