I saw this really beautiful black woman the other day with blue eyes. She didn't look bi-racial and had a medium complexion. She had blue eyes! Were they contacts? I thought brown eyes were always dominant.

A friend of mine is black and she wears blue contacts. It looks really cool. She has a friend that is mixed that has real green eyes.

I have a cousin that lives in the south that is really dark skinned that has blue eyes, no contacts. I also have a cousin that has gray eyes and she's really light skinned.. she's multi racial. Yeah, not all people that have black in them, or are predominantly black have brown eyes. Even there are some non mixed Africans with green eyes and hazel.

On my mother's side of the family, about half the people have blue or gray eyes, and aren't very light skinned. Just a recessive gene showing up. And also, my little cousins are bi racial (black mother/ blonde father) and they have green eyes. There's also quite a few African people with naturally sandy/red hair. Genetics can do some funny things!

It's uncommon, but it's entirely possible. She may in fact be "bi-racial" but not look it, or there could be blue eyes somewhere in her family, maybe a grandparent or something. Brown eyes are dominant, but that doesn't mean guarenteed. If there were blue eyes on each side of her family, she may have ended up with them.

Of course, they might have been contacts

Yes! I am a bi-racial person and I know in fact that you can have green, blue or any eye color. While my is white with hazel eye's and my father is black with dark brown eyes I turn out with brown eyes and my brother's are hazel. And black people can but some where along the line that had some mix in them even if you can't tell they have mix in them but for the eyes believe me it there is.It just have might have been there great, great, great.and so on and so that where white or mixed.

She could have had a recessive gene, then! Yes it is totally possible for black folks to have green, hazel and blue eyes. My mother's cousin was born of two "chocolate" colored parents, but has *natural* blonde hair and blue eyes.
Granted it's not common, but it's not impossible either.

I have medium brown skin and green eyes and so does my brother. I have cousins with Blue eyes, green and grey eyes. I have natural red heads and blondes in my family. We do have mixed blood but its way back like great great grandparents.

dominant means that they are the phenotype most of the time. Sometimes the recessive gene is expressed. So yes it is possible for a black bir-racial person to have blue eyes. But they were probably contacts ... lol
