First of all, they're in the EAST, which is not so deep as the West.
They are a veteran team, so they are gearing for a good run at the playoffs again. Remember last year, they beat Detroit, who had a 64-18 record, which is the best in the league. They also beat the Mavs, who had a 60-win record and upset the Spurs. They are pretty much like the 01-02 Lakers, who won the title with a decent regular season record.
I hope they lose though, maybe to the Cavs or Detroit.

Because they have Shaq and D Wade. Plus the reason there so bad is because Shaq was injured most of the season and D Wade was hurt for some games. Personally though i dont think they can repeat because the east is to good.

Because they were in a similar situation last year and they made the finals, and also won the whole thing. Their record was a tad bit better I believe, but they were in a similar spot last year.
That is why they are still many people's favorite to go to the finals. Shaq and Dwade kick it in high gear towards the end of the year. It is a long season.

I guess people are thinking that Miami will upset a team like Detroit. With Miami getting a low seed if they make the playoffs, they'll have to go through better teams to even make it to the finals. I definitely don't think they'll make it to the finals, even with Shaq.

Because people think Shaq is still good and also people don't realize they have like 2398631210 players over the age of 33.

Because they are the defending champions and other than Detroit, who else is gonna make it from the East?
Miami, especially with the addition of Kapono, is going to be ready to do something special... be the first time to lose in the finals by an average of more than 30 ppg (to Phoenix)

man, this is too easy to answer. Because fans had their blinders on last playoffs, as well as the media, and they are expecting a repeat of last year. Any self-repecting basketball purist knows that you can't beat another team when its 8 on 5. If the games are called unfairly like they were in last year's playoffs, the HEAT will repeat, and the NBA will be exposed as a league of manufactured stars.

Everybody was counting Miami out last year, everybody said new jersey was going to knock them, out they couldn't so they said Detroit, they couldn't ,Dallas was beating them but they came back. They were in the same situation as lat year 500 in the half of the season and they won the championship,so thats why everybody is saying they are going to the finals.
