A mother of 3 was was convicted of throwing a McDonalds cup filled with ice at a car that had cut her off in traffic. She is due to be sentenced today-she could receive up to two years in prison. She was convicted of "propelling a missile".
This is not a joke people-i cant make this kind of stuff up.
Granted, she has problems with road rage it sounds. But a cup of ice? Convicting her of a felony? Prison?
How about a nice heavy fine for littering instead?
Here is a link regarding the case:

Your thoughts. Is this extreme, or is this justice?

Stupid Marxist?
Could have killed someone?
Well what about the people who cut her off in traffic. They could have killed someone as well. Shouldnt they be facing charges also?

Wow !
If the woman has road rage problem, The authorities have court rage problems. Since they can't catch big criminals, they might as well punish whatever they can get their hands on!

First off, the punishment is "up to two years". The actual sentence will be nothing of the sort. She will probably get sentenced to time served plus a small fine and have to go to counselling, which she seems to need.
The other guy needs a ************. 40,000 people a year die on the roads, due largely to 100% preventable accidents caused by idiots like him.

This is a result of an ignorant education in the population.
People by nature has the need to be guided. I think on this case, the jury thought that attending the judge recommendation, would lead them to the wise decision, because of the influence provoked by the judge status.

She is definitely in the wrong. the driver of the other car, not knowing it was just a cup of ice may have caused an accident in panic. Were the children in the car? If so, she put their lives in danger. Sometimes people cut people off and are sincerely sorry for making the mistake. We'll see what comes of it. Her attitude in court will be her best friend or her worst enemy. She should have though of her dear children before she went nuts.

Way extreme...that is so stupid. Two years for throwing a cup? A fine would be enough...propelling a missile my smelly wrinkly a$$. Sometimes I wonder about this Judicial system...it has way too many holes and needs to tidy up a bit...

No. But the perpetrator should be somewhat fined and points assesed. The maximum should be 30 days Suspension of Driving.

This was discussed a couple of days ago. The jury decided on her punishment, but as I recall, it hasn't been ruled by a judge yet. He will ultimately decide what is her best punishment. Even the victims were surprised by her sentence.
With that said, remember people, road rage can be very dangerous to yourself and those around you.

I think a fine would be appropriate, maybe some sort of anger management class. Jail time is a severe overreaction.

My thoughts? She shouldn't have broken the law.
She did and deserves to be punished. We have those laws for a reason. What if the ice had cracked the drivers window and caused the driver to swerve and hit a guard rail (or a person)? I know it's an extreme example, but laws are laws.
But I'm just a heartless evil conservative bastard.

I agree Peter, this is ridiculous. A fine for litter, maybe a charge of misdemeanor assault (whatever's equivalent), probation, that's it. I guess displays of anger are illegal now...
