Is it an optical mouse or a ball mouse?
Use a cotton bud. You can use a moist cotton bud, too, but make sure the mouse is thoroughly dry before you use it again.
If it ia a ball mouse, you have to unscrew the circular lid on the bottom (just twist it), take the ball out and wash it in water and clean the rollers inside with a cotton bud.

If you have a mouse with the little ball inside, flip the mouse over, turn the circular piece, and then lift the ball out. Clean the ball with glass cleaner, and a paper towel, and set aside to dry. Next, get a q-tip and with either more class cleaner or rubbing alcohol on it. Clean the metal contacts on the sides of where the ball sits. Now, just check the ball, and make sure that there's not alot of lint on it, put it back, and then tighten the circular piece. You might also want to check your mouse pad. If it has a fabric top, you might want to replace it if it's getting worn. A regular mouse can pick up quite a bit of lint from an old mouse pad. Have fun.

If you have a roller ball mouse, take the ball out (usually by an twist opening underneath the mouse).
There are usually 3 rollers that spin and will probably have a dark thick gunk running all the way around them. Not usually a pleasant job, but you can scrape it off with your fingers, tapping the mouse when done to make sure all the bits fall out and don;t stay in the mouse.
Also, try keeping your mouse mat clean as that's where it picks up the dirt from.

Cotton buds & alcohol are a waste of time. Like Markymark says, turn the slipring underneath, drop the ball out & carefully clean off the rings of crud that'll be on the three black rollers inside - fingernail's the best tool known to man for this. Tap out the crap, wipe off the ball (clean hanky's ideal) & put it back together.
All ball mice collect crud, there's nothing you can do apart from keep the mouse-mat as clean as possible. Best to get an optical mouse when you can - dirt (!) cheap now.

You have to take theball out,,,clean it with alcohol and replace it after you clean the ball location with alcohol also. Better yet go buy a laser mouse which can be purcased for as little as $40. They are fantastic.

you are able to attempt re-installation the drivers regardless of the undeniable fact that it quite is a ineffective wish, the likely reason is the button has wiped out. There are frequently plastic clips that make the clicking button artwork and those placed directly to the element the place they not press on the button. you purely determination is to change the touchpad buttons, it is honestly not much less high priced by using fact the labour in contact in dismatling the workstation expenses way better than the touchpad assembly itself. the main inexpensive determination is an exterior mouse.
