Is this story about pig bladders regrowing fingertips for real?

I know that frozen pig skin has been used to prevent scarring with burn victims, but today I read an article that two people have regrown fingertips by applying pig bladder extract powder to the surface. How can this be possible?

but how can the pigs live without their bladders? You need bladders! that's just cruel.
