My hair is cut really, really short (like 1980s Annie Lennox short) because I like it this way. The only makeup I wear is blush, powder on the nose, and very light lipstick and/or lipgloss. I get hateful glares in public, and the other day some cops in a Chinese restaurant said, "I thought she was gay." Also, at the casino the other day, there was a group of three butch women who looked at me kind of confused when I held my husband's hand when we were walking around. Also, a butch woman tried to hit on me at Wal-Mart. While I sometimes do like to look at women, also (after, we're all human), I'm essentially str8. Maybe I need to wear a t-shirt that says, "I look gay, but it's men all the way."

People go by visual for first impressions, and it sounds like you could look like the stereotype butch. A lot of people still think any woman with short hair must be gay, real women have long hair.
Let it go.....be who you are.

A shirt that may be easier to get would be "Straight but not narrow." Also, I live on the edge of the American Midwest. A lot of the farmer's wives look like butch lesbians, so I never assume. It may just be the ignorant people where you live.

Haha yeah, the same happens to me. I have really short hair or a Mohawk sometimes, and people think I'm a lesbian, but I honestly do not think I am. It doesn't really bothers me, because if someone wants to hate me just because he/she presumes I'm gay, well it's their business...what kinda bothers me is that maybe guys don't show themselves interested in me because they think I'm gay. I think it's pretty sad to assume certain things just from physical aspect. Homosexuality or straightness should be something inside us, and only then maybe reflecting on our looks, not the other way round.

Do you have broad shoulders? How are you built? I think I short hairstyle makes a woman sophisticated, very appealing. Perhaps your isnt really suitable for you. But so far you borderline gay from the way you explained yourself. Go feminine.

butch is based on appearance...nothing more. you ARE butch...butch is NOT a synonym for lesbian. it's the manliness in your appearance.
