Filipinos are very kind, family oriented, religious and hard working people.
I think the Philippines has natural beauty but gets a bad reputation due it's government's corruption.

I think the whole world know about the Philippine Government and the "Hospitality service" for their people.
Philippines is very nice to visit. The native people are very curious of foreigners that visit. As a foreigner, be prepared for people staring and gawking at you. (its normal)
You would have to weigh the difference of some filipino's personality. Some are good and some very tricky (men or women)
The beer is cheap and shopping is good because prices are very low compared to the states.
Some filipino's see you as a dollar sign. I don't trust some of them.

The Philippines is great.
Filipinos are also a really great bunch, but they don't want to understand some things. They are smart, they just don't want to undestand or learn.
For example - this is a forum about travel. Only travel. This question has no place here. Not only does someone ask it, people also answer it. Hmmmm.... just one of those things - but it is also a reason the place doesn't move forward.

You wouldn't want to go to Boracay at this time coz it was devastated by a storm. You are better off going to Palawan, Camiguin Island, El Nido, and other great destinations. Avoid Cavite by all means. The darn place is a dump I think.
In Cubao, go to Gateway Mall, Mall of Asia in Pasay (end of EDSA), Mega Mall on EDSA, Tutuban Mall in Tondo and Glorieta in Ayala, there are several malls you can visit that cater to foreigners and well-heeled Filipinos.
You can get superb computers in the country for damn cheap. For $600, you get a dual-core CPU (2 CPUs), great motherboard (MSI, or ECS, ASUS, Elite), 512 MB memory, 80 GB hard drive, DVD burner, 256 mB video card, cam, table, AVR, chair. Heck, what more can you ask. The beers are cheap (go to Baywalk, or Cuervo Nation at the Mall of Asia, RASA in Cubao (for 7 San Miguel Light beers and one appetizer you pay only PHP251 - in dollars that is only $5))

the philippines is a beautiful country. it must be, since i am from there. beauty begets beauty as a very wise man said. or was it a lady?...oh i forget!
the filipino people, my children for whom i care so much, are the most pliant of beings---they easily comply with my will. it brings me great joy to see the big smiles on their faces when i sing to them. with a song, i am able to erase their sadness and their feeling of hunger. nothing brings me more joy than belting out a tune to inspire my people. God bless the philippines!

And... a lot of things. When a friend went here, I asked him if he would like to go to Boracay or Cebu, but he was reticent in going there alone. Apparently, it's too dangerous. I guess, if you're from here, the place loses its charm and appeal to the natives. I don't think it's too dangerous here. And yes, he thinks the Philippines is a bit backward. because the catholic church still has a strong foothold in the government. it's not bad, per se, but they stick their noses in where it's not needed.

Ha ha haa.....I let a Filipines couple stayed at my house last month here in Singapore, they were job hunting (professional)and kinda broke and took them in out of sympathy, well they found their jobs, things got better for them and I stopped the charity and so they moved out to find together with most of my kitchenware, tupperwares, DVDs.....
Philippines is a nice country, poor/lost culture and Filipinos have no principles except living on the OPM SYNDROME. (Others people's money)
Dave Star is right, its time for them to start loving their own country.
