I think he mite be blind... When i go near him or go to grab him or anything- he doesn't move, but as soon as a grabhim, he freaks. Plus, when i refilled his water, when he came to drink it, it seemed like he was having trouble finding where to drink. I can't afford to bring him to a vet and get him checked out, so how can i figure out if he is blind? And if he is, how do i help?

It is possible that he's blind. Only a vet would be able to tell you for sure. However, if he can maneuver around his cage or has no problem getting into his pigloo, he may not be blind.

As prey animals, gp's will freeze in fright or run like the dickens into a hiding place to escape the source of their fright. Some of my pigs will sit still as I approach them, but once I touch them, they scramble. Its an instinct. Some are able to become more comfortable with your touch as time progresses, but some never do.

Go to www.guinealynx.com & see if they have anything on blindness. Best of luck to you & your piggie!
