It has been a year since she moved out of my life and into her alcoholic boyfriends arms. I call that poetic justice. The one thing that is getting me down is, she has gotten all she can possibly take from me and I have jumped through all the hoops with and signed an agreement as to her final demands per our Mediator, 5 weeks ago, what is the delay now? I just want to move on.

one thing is for certain, if it involves an attorney, they will stretch it out as long as they can...It's all about billable hours. If you are already paing alimony/spousal support, call your attorney. if you aren't, then just sit and wait until they push it through.

My guess would be she still owes her attorney money and the attorney is not going to file the final papers until payment in full has been made.

Keep in mind her attorney works for her, not you, even if it is a mutually agreed upon divorce. But that also makes the financial obligation to that lawyer solely hers, unless something else was agreed to in mediation where you are to pay part of the fee; if that is the case, you need to pay the fee or it will hang in limbo until you do.

The only way to expedite the matter may be to hire your own attorney to file the final papers for the divorce if everything else has been worked out.

If she owes her lawyer then her lawyer will then have to sue her for any unpaid balance she owes, but that would not be your problem, it would be hers.

she is having second thoughts about it, isn't sure she has made the right choice here, as she knows once those papers are signed it is usually over with. she may not want the divorce, and hopes that by not signing she will be able to get back with u before its too late. a year is often plenty of time to see what that other person is like, and chances are she has just recently found out.
