1. It resulted in a highly trained Colonial militia that was schooled in British tactics and strategy and had combat experience. It also built French resentment against British rule in the New World, a factor that would bear fruit for the Americans in the Revolution to come.

2. Probably the most significant were the decisions to tax the Colonists, while continuing to deny them Parliamentary representation. By this time there most likely was an emerging element that wanted either a more equal role for the Colonies or independence. Britain wanted to continue to dominate the Colonists and also likely needed to find ways to raise money to pay for the French and Indian War.

3. Washington--military leader and an important player in raising morale of the Colonies. Franklin--one of America's first diplomats, a highly respected man with influence abroad--raised money and helped bring the French into the fight. Jefferson--highly intelligent and influential leader who was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence. Adams (Samuel)--a respected leader and intellect who helped shape the democratic form the new republic would take.

4. Tax Acts--prime motivator in building Colonial resentment against English rule. Included the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act.
Currency Act prohibited the Colonies from issuing their own money. Quartering Act forced Colonists to billet British soldiers in their homes. Declaratory Act attempted to strengthen British rule by stating British government had total power to legislate over Colonies. All of these strengthened resentment against British rule and motivated those seeking Independence.
