Slugs do like beer; if you want to kill the slugs in your garden, surround the plant that they most like to eat, with yogurt cartons which have been sunk into the ground; and then half filled with beer, The next morning the slugs will be dead. They start to drink the beer from the cartons, get drunk, fall in and drown, that's why they try to stick to-gether, so that one can always be there to do the rescuing!

don't know about them sticking together but if you go out in the dark with no shoes on and stand on one and they squish between your toes then they stick like superglue.
