I don't think anything about the person because of the stuttering. Any time I hear someone stutter, it reminds me of several of my uncles and cousins who used to stutter and I use the techniques our family learned from The Stuttering Foundation of how to communicate with someone who stutters. The reaction of those in the conversation and the way they respond will help the person who stutters so they stutter less. I also refer them to The Stuttering Foundation for help whether they want to find a specialist for therapy or get a Self Therapy book to work on their own.

The question should be...how does it make people feel when they stutter? My mum stutters and when in an awkward situation or she is feeling stressed it becomes worse. I know it annoys the hell out of her when she stutters and also she hates anyone finishing her sentences. It is something that can not be helped not something to be mocked at.

I think they are having a really hard time but there is a lot of help out there for people that stutter. speech therapy can show how to use the voice to best advantage.

most people who are half decent will see past it.and just try to understand what the person is saying.i know someone with a stutter who is very clever and succesful,it doesnt stop people getting on does it.must be hard though when you know what you are trying to say but people dont.
will confess it can be funny in films.

I feel sorry for them. I wouldn't make fun of them. It's not their fault that they stutter.

I know a few stammer's!
Not only is it frustrating for them it's infuriating when you say the word they are trying to say!
They get proper p p p p pissed offf
It normally escalates when they are annoyed or nervous

I feel sorry for them and try to ignore their impediment. The trick is NOT to try and say what you THINK they're about to say - that is sheer ignorance and does nothing to help them.
