Insert the LiveCDrom with thousands of games and programs, and all the diagnostics, http://pclinuxos.com

It boots in CD, loads in RAMdisk

then open a console, type df -h

Reason for my recommendation is this: You want to know the true and genuine size of your drives, and the space used, plus, the unused space remaining, NOT just the 'reported' sizes, purposefully reported wrong, since the ATA/ATAPI-4 standard was ratified in 1999.

All computers since 1999 are complying with the HPA (Host Protected Area) hard drive rules! So, Microsoft does NOT report the real figures, only what the BIOS is 'allowed' to know from the Smart Hard Drive!

Read some about it like at the Dell MediaDirect web site, for instance. Each maker has their own uses for those Host-Protected Areas.

Only GNU/Linux actually can see them, in the start up logs (open the console, and type DMESG) with it's Gparted partitioning program.

Go to My Computer first, right click on the C drive, then go to Properties, left click on the Properties, and disk use will be displayed in a graphical format ( kind of a pie chart, showing used and unused)
