I think that a variety of reasons need to be considered.
Regaining the Ashes 5-0 in a fairly long & ruthless campaign is certainly fatiguing, especially when backed up with a One Day series immediately & then another straight after that.
Change of captaincy to, not the vice captain, but Mike Hussey is unsettling, especially when viewing his cautious use of bowlers & poor field placements.
The loss, at different stages, of Clarke, Ponting, Lee, Symonds(his loss can not be understated, he is Mr Everywhere on a cricket pitch), McGrath, Langer, Warne(although he has been missing from ODI cricket for a while, his presence should never be understated), Gilchrist & unbelievably Stuart Clark have all made varying levels of damage to the team. These players are, in essense, an entire team. This is probably the most critical factor.
Team selection must also play a role. Stuart Clark took 8 wickets just weeks ago for his state & yet they overlook him for a spot in both the Chappell-Hadley series & the World Cup. Tait might have a lot to offer but you simply needed to see the importance of him during the Ashes to note his huge worth.
The over reliance on Bracken & Lee is damaging too, especially seeing that Lee is an exceptional second rate bowler & will never be anything else. The now obvious fact that White is a great batsman but that his bowling is not up to scratch at international level has affected the team too.
So, whilst all these point need to be considered, it is loss of players & the end of a long summer that has finally gotten them.
I think they should all go to Argentina or Canada for rest & light training, somewhere cool & without a strong cricket culture. Then on to the West Indies to lift form & regain that competitiveness that has made them a feared team.

I think that the form slump has come down to the changes that the selectors made at the start of the CB finals series. Until then the team was going very well, with only the one loss to England at the SCG, which you could have said was an off day.
The team had gelled, and the there were great plans and structures in place. The only change that needed to be made was Brad Hodge in for Andrew Symonds due to injury, and the game against NZ at the MCG had shown he would slot in well with his 99 not out.
Then the selectors decided to change all of that by putting in 2 players who had not been playing, and had not shown form that was so exceptional they should get a game ahead of others. It completely changed the team balance, those players looked underdone, and the momentum was quickly gone and could not be regained.
As they say - if it aint broke dont fix it! I think the rotation policy has to end.

In my opinon the aussie selectors are still undecided with their final 11 for the world up and are using these matches in the chappel hadlee trophy to switch players around as well as give senior players a much needed break after the long ashes series followed by the one dayers. They will come out all guns blazing in the world cup and they will assure that. But definitely they will be a bit down and not in their usual high confidence modes.
After the match hussey had the following to say:
"I'm demoralised. It will take a little while to get over it. We have to execute under pressure and to lose when they were 40 for 4 is disappointing. We were put under pressure and we couldn't do what was required."

I evaluate this to be a hick-up for Australia. they're a solid group yet having run right into a extra ideal Indian youthful group. Aus has been on the droop even nonetheless they are nevertheless #a million on the charts. yet time will tell how Aussies and CA react to this failure and positioned across in new blood of youngsters. Even India will face a similar translation while 5 of their seniors retire from attempt cricket. Transition teen is fundamental for fulfillment. Who stated India has taken the ranks of #a million. they have closed the hollow and are spectacular song bringing in youthful gamers. With time and with the aid of WC 2011 they are going to be waiting for any undertaking. with the aid of no means they are #a million, yet they are getting there. For India to be to #a million, they could beat each group they face on a consistent foundation and of direction they get extra factors and flow up the ladder. India did a astounding job the two in attempt and ODI and the rage we see is to go interior the excellent suited path. they're going to stand now and then some hickups that are ok, yet basic they're going to do extra ideal as time is going with the aid of and basically time will tell.
