Hi, Go and see your doc now. In my GPs practice, you have to see a GP first who will then refer you to a Midwife. At least, talking to your GP now will give you and opportunity to ask any questions that you may have and alleviate any concerns so you can relax a bit more. Congratulations and all the best of luck.

Call your doctor and let them know you are pregnant. They will tell you when to make your first prenatal appointment. Just in case you aren't aware of this, you begin counting your pregnancy by the first day of your last period, not from the day you believe you conceived. Most women have their first prenatal appointment around 6 weeks. Early prenatal care is important. I would not wait until 3 months because that is already past your first trimester when you are at the most risk for miscarriage. Also, if you haven't already, you should start taking prenatal vitamins. The folic acid in them is so important in early fetal development. Most doctors will give you samples of them to get you started and a prescription for them. You can also ask your doctor if you can drop by their office and get some samples before your first prenatal appointment, or you can buy OTC prenatal vitamins until you see the doctor. Also, there are many tests that are done throughout your pregnancy and they are all done at different times, so it's important to see your doctor as early as possible. Congratulations and best wishes.

Start taking a prenatal vitamin right now if you haven't already. It's important to take them all through pregnancy and into the postpartum period, but extremely important in the first trimester. There are vitamins and minerals like folic acid that helps prevent serious birth defects like spina bifida. Go buy them at the drugstore and take one each day.
That said, go to the doctor now :) He'll just do a urine test, and a blood test and ask family history, etc. Nothing wrong with taking care of yourself from the beginning. You will be glad you did. The doctor can make important appointments for you, like bloodwork and ultrasounds, things that you wont want to miss. Better to be safe than sorry with this now!
Good luck and congrats on the baby!!

Go ahead and make the appointment for next week or even the week after - it doesn't have to be tomorrow. At the very least you can pick up some literature, advice and any vitamins you may need. You can also get the blood tests, etc. out of the way. You will also hopefully meet other expectant moms who will be a great source of information as time goes by. Congratulations!

You should see the doctor before the 3 month stage is up as they like to do another pregnancy test to make sure you are pregnant, take your blood pressure and know your weight throughout the whole pregnancy and book you in for the 3 month scan, plus you have to start seeing the midwife to make sure you dont have any little problems that can come with being preganant and she may want you to take vitamins ect, plus with it being your first time the quicker you can get clued up to whats coming the better. good luck!!!

I would go to the GP now. The GP will be able to provide you with answers to any questions you may have. You will most probably not recieve an appt for a scan at the hospital until around 12 weeks - this may be delayed if you wait until 3 months before going to the GP.
Good luck with everything

It ´s really important to go and see a GP as soon as you find out you are pregnant. I got my first ultrasound at 6 weeks when I went to the doctor and told him I´m pregnant. He checked if everything was in order if the baby was in the right place etc.

You'll actually want to call your clinic and tell them you'd like to come in for a pregnancy confirmation. They'll want you to wait until you are 10 days past your period due date. Then after they confirm your pregnancy they will tell you to either schedule an appointment where the go over your medical history or schedule a 12 week appointment. (some clinics go over medical history at the 12 week appt, some do it ahead of time.

It won't hurt to go early except maybe in the pocketbook.
Its worth the price of an office call to get the peae of mind.
You can get some advice about diet and a blood pressure check and a baseline weigh-in.
The baseline info the doctor will have will be useful in determining what is and is not normal for you later.

You want to go as soon as you can. Most OB's are SOOO overwhelmed with clients that they simply cannot get most women in until theyre 12 weeks along.
I would go ahead and call your OB or Midwife, or whoever you have chosen to provide your care, and try to get in as soon as you can. If you wait until 12 weeks to call for an appointment they might not be able to get you in until even later, which means you miss a lot of care that you and the baby you need.
I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks, but my Midwife couldnt see me until just shy of 9 weeks. Its a busy business!
