How do you remove stage fear and develop self confidence?

I have a very bad stage fear. When I have to read out something or tell something in the front of my class I become cold and start shivering. I forget half of my dialogues. Today my best friend is there to support me. But in the future what will I do?

Practice. It also helps NOT to try to get over it-in other words, accept that your public speaking is not going to be as smooth as you'd like. Remind yourself: "It is ok, I do this every time, and it will get better". This will help relieve some of your anxiety.

I have to speak in front of 80+ people once a month at work and sometimes I stutter, but mostly I lose track of what I'm saying. I am no longer nervous because I have come to accept that I'm not a great speaker in large crowds. PUBLIC SPEAKING STILL SUCKS!!!

As the others are saying, Practice.

For years, I was loathe to speak in front of a group. All the way through my elementary school, middle school, high school, and college years, I would just take a "zero" rather than give a report of any kind in front of the classroom. I was terribly, terribly shy and lacked self confidence more than anyone I have ever known.

As it would go, I got a job in which I had to speak in front of large groups of people 2 to 3 times a week. I was mortified at first. For a while, I would practice the speeches before I delivered them, and this helped me.

One thing I will say, it was important that I believe in what I was saying, for me to have the confidence needed to say it in front of a group of people.

Over time, I got much better at giving speeches. Over many years, I actually got to the point where I enjoy it.
