You should consume >8 to <10 times your weight in calories per day. You should also eat these calories spread out over 6 or 7 mini-meals. You shouldn't starve yourself if you're working out. Food should be considered fuel to power your body towards weight loss. For example, if I'm 180 pounds, I'd need to eat 300 calories every 2.5 hours but then I'm training for a marathon. I've had to reduce the % of fat in my calories, reduce the % of protein in my calories and increase the % of complex carbohydrates.
You also need to do weights and cardio. One without the other is a waste of time.
My training for this week is/has been:
Sunday - rest
Monday - Cycling for an hour ~25 miles, upper body weights
Tuesday - Run 9 miles, lower leg weights
Wednesday (today) - Midsection (abs & lower back)
Thursday - Run 5 miles
Friday - Cycling
Saturday - Run 18 miles

I've lost 30 pounds since the first of November. I don't worry too much about cravings because I know I'll burn >700 calories per workout.

you can eat a lot of fruit and other healthy stuff. the problem is, when you move your body more, you need more energy. and a human gets energy in form of food. you just need to watch what you eat.

It's okay to eat more as long as it's healthy kind of food. And if you keep your exercise, they will turn to muscle instead of fat.
Good luck.
