I do sometimes. It's right when I'm about to fall asleep. You know the spot where you're caught just between sleep and conscious. I think it's probably normal. I always look over and make sure my wife didn't see me get spastic, but other than being a little embarrassed I think there is no harm.

My husband jumps in his sleep. I believe it is related to your neurological system. Do your legs jump? This could be RLS(restless leg syndrome). I would let my primary care provider know. There are different medications out there that will control this.

I often wake myself up just as I'm drifting off, by jumping. Very annoying! Perfectly normal.

It seems that you have a nervous twitch. Have you undergone any strenuous activity recently? Or are you under some extreme pressure over anything in particular, OR are you having a sleep deprivation? these things could contribute to your condition.

Yes, just as I'm about to be fully asleep, sometimes my whole body jerks.
It's almost like I have the sensation that I'm falling, or that I've tripped, and my body physically reacts to it. Very bizarre.

A lot of people make sudden jerks just before they drift to sleep. They have cool names: hypnic jerks. This is completely normal.
