I have the same problem with my little guy. He loves the puddings, fruits but doesn't like the meats and dinners. I have found that if the dinner has sweet potatoes in it, he will eat a little bit more of it, he still gets the "sweet" and more veggies. Just remember, if your baby is still on formula, he is getting all the nutrients he needs from the formula.
Have you tried the Gerber Graduates Puffs? They come in sweet corn, sweet potatoe, cherry apple, banana, and cherry flavors. My little guy LOVES these and he likes the texture.

take away the puddings until he starts eating the meal again!!! They dont taste very nice though would you like to eat it lol, why dont you make your own food for him and freeze into ice cube trays?? in the long run it is healthier and cheaper. Try looking at Annabel Karmels books, they are very good meals. I have used them since my baby was old enough to wean, he is now 16 months old and an extremely good eater, i can even get him to eat liver, where as my 4 yr old i gave jar food to and he wont eat anything aspart from sausages, im sure that there is a connnection

My daughter ate the veggies, fruits, and dinners, just as well as the desserts. I found that some of the foods taste better in different brands. For example, I ended up using Beech Nut fruits and veggies, but Gerber dinners and desserts. There were different benefits for each. Also, my daughter lost interest in the Gerber 2nd foods dinners, so I tried moving on to the 3rd foods dinners, and she totally loved them cuz they were a bit different as far as texture and being a little more interesting to her. If you are worried that he will eat too much sweet stuff, without eating well for the rest of his meals, try other foods that are sweet but still good for him, and stop the dessert foods. Nowadays they have many varieties and blends of fruits that are probably just as good. You didn't say how old your son is, but if he's old enough for finger foods, Gerber makes plenty of those that are tasty and good for your child.

My daughter was exactly the same. Try jars with sweet potato in or casseroles with apricot. If you are making your own add naturally sweet veg like carrots sweet potato's or sweetcorn and maybe a bit of formula so it tastes familiar.
There are some good books one already mentioned and Gina ford good too.

Skip the pudding altogether and start feeding him applesauce and other fruits. It sounds silly, but you can dip the spoon into his veggies or meat first and then just dip it into the fruit to have the taste , the sweet taste of the fruit, be what he tastes first. Worked for me. I just didn't give my little one the sweet desserts at all. Sugar is so addictive and doesn't do one good thing for your baby. He'll acclimate quickly and will enjoy the fruit just as much.

You can o cold turkey and just stop all the sweet stuff or alternatively you can offer things like sweet potato, parsnips, butternut squash, carrots etc, gradually adding more savoury veg like cauliflower, broccoli and potatoes, etc until he is taking a good balance of savouries then offer a pudding now and then.

you could try mixing some of the puddings into his food, you dont say how old he is...this is easy to mix their food if he's still a baby.
Parsnips and sweet pots are good to mix up together with chicken and the sweetness is there, just wean him off the sweet stuff slowly and he wont notice.
My daughters the opposite she hates sweet stuff!

Keep given it to him, maybe he will eat the dinner. Never give sweets to a child before the dinner. Step up and be a parent not their friend. Children must learn "NO" and stick to it, cause later he will walk all over u.
