Most Linux distributions are free and will offer more security than Windows with anti-virus software.

try the site freesoftware4all.co.uk it has a page on free anti viruses.Although there plenty of sites on the internet that do the same.
I use anti vira along with spyware terminator which are both doing a great job and my pc has been working better and faster since i started using these instead of that norton shite i started off with.

Ad-Aware se, ccleaner, spybot search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster, AVG Anti-Virus Free, McaFee SiteAdvisor, Tweaknow Reg. cleaner, all these and more at the link below, all are free.
