What happened? Since the end of charmed and alias, ALL the new shows on TV have male main characters!
There are only 2 shows left with females as main characters: desperate housewives (desperate women with no jobs!! ) and grey's anatomy.
All the other shows have male main characters: all 3 CSI, jericho, heroes, lost, 24, prison break, house, smallville, supernatural, and plenty of others I forgot... ! and soon the black donnellyes (the story of 4 brothers)
I'm beginning to get sick and tired of seeing so many men on TV, aren't you?
Are the TV producers living in the same world than us?

WHAT? I don't know what you are s watching, but in 6 of the shows you mentioned, there are VERY strong FEMALE co-stars. All the CSI shows are centered around a male and FEMALE. In Heroes, the FEMALE cheerleader has been the center of the frigging show since the beginning, "Save the cheerleader, Save the world". Remember that??
Lost does not have one or two main characters, it is called an ensemble cast. And, if you have watched lately, the FEMALE characters in the show have had more face time than a lot of the men.
Yes, House is named for one character in the show. But, would the show be as good as it is without the sexual tension between Dr. House and Dr. Cuddy, his FEMALE boss??
Oy vey, I think you worry too much. And you need to think before you post such an inane question.

Hmm. I hadn't noticed the paucity of women in new shows. The ones I like (King of Queens, Desperate Housewives, Battlestar Galactica) all feature strong central female characters. There is also Candice Bergen's character on "Boston Legal" and the ones you mentioned on Gray's Anatomy. But all those shows you mention do seem kind of "top heavy" with male characters. Maybe Hollywood writers should take a hint. Balance the numbers, guys!

24 has some strong female characters you need to watch it again. Yeah you do have a point besides 24 and desperate housewives there are not that many female characters sadly if you want something done you are going to have to do it yourself! They are not going to change on their own!

I aint gettin sick of it! I don't mind if there's a man as the main character, as long as it's a good show. Anyway, there are still female characters in there. What's that show too where the girl has just died and she is like the grim reaper?? Dead Like Me is it?? That's a female lead.

I think you are looking in the wrong places. There are plenty of women t.v. shows for example Ugly Betty is really good. If you look and go to other channels, you might find some.

oh please. if you're going to complain about women not being main characters in tv shows, you might as well go off about minorities not having main parts too! besides... i dont know about you but i watch tv shows for entertainment.
