G'day,

I am assuming that you are an Australian student (not overseas). Therefore you can get access to the Good University Guide publication in your library (either school or local). It has a very comprehensive information on how the universities are doing last year in regards to student graduates recruitment, teaching satisfaction etc.

My suggestion is also always read the course information CAREFULLY, since some courses may differ (even slightly) even though they have the same name and this may affect your satisfactory in doing the course (such as flexibility to combine subjects from different faculty as part of your degree).

Hope this helps. Good luck for your study.

Rather than a second Bachelor degree I would suggest you consider a Masters or PhD in either science or engineering. The second Bachelor degree will take about 2 years and you should be able to complete a Masters thesis within 1.5 - 2 years. Since money is an object consider getting the Masters first in which some programs will pay you a stipend based upon your lab work for research towards that degree. Chemical Engineering is an fairly high demand position and a Masters degree would be much more desirable as compared to a Bachelors. It does not matter so much that you did not have a 4-year Engineering degree. My company hires lots of Masters and PhDs in Engineering who have not all been studying Engineering the entire time.

Check up on the placement History of the earlier graduates of the existing course and the prospects for employment in the catchment area of the Adelaide University. The profession is given due weightage in Australia and the track record of Academia has been GOOD. If you are aiming at Management career in Mining, then your vision ought to include the prospects for that also when choosing a University, .. not that it is essential right now.
