In alot of ways tv does do alot of harm. Todays youth especially seem to be extremly dependent on tv. I used to babysit a young boy that would be completly glued to the tv. You could put it on the weather channel, and he couldn't take his eyes off it. When I was a kid, I did like watching tv, but I liked going out to play more. I rarely remember me and my friends sitting talking about the latest tv shows. Now thats all I hear many kids talking about.
I was raised in a family of readers, my whole family reads, we even have several published authors. These days it seems ppl are watching there books, more then actually reading them. And almost every tv show has a book related to it, especially kids shows.
On the flip side, you can learn alot from tv. From current events, to cooking and home dec. to science and history, its all there. And for some ppl who would otherwise be bored by a topic, they actualy learn about things. Personally reading about history bores me to tears, and i'm not a huge fan of the history channel, but my dad is. And when he's got control of the tv, i'll often sit and watch, and i've actualy learned alot. I'm 25, and i've just reccently learned things that I should have, and probably did learn in elementary school, but forgot. It can also promote family time. If a family can sit around and find a tv show they all enjoy, it can get them to actualy spend time together. And in todays busy world, that is a very good thing.
I think the bottom line is, nothing can be completly bad. And with all good, comes some bad. Its all about how you look at it.

Are you watching Discovery or The Comedy Channel? lol
Tv was created for entertainment. Entertainment is not necessarily geared toward good or bad.. although I would think that in the day when it was created, no one ever thought you would see such violence and nudity or hear such foul language on tv. As we have accepted the world's crime and glamorized it, tv has accepted it as well.
The good thing is that we have a remote control too.. we can either turn it off or change the channel. Or hee hee.. enjoy the bad sometimes!
TV in itself is not good or bad. It is a tv. The programming can only influence us but not make us good or bad or be the cause of good or bad (in my opinion that is)!

I think it's good in terms of educational TV because it is easy to access, and there are many news channels. I love mindless cartoons, and although they are funny, I admit that they are kind of bad for you because of some of the violence and subtly racist comments, and of course people can addicted to that and other programs very easily and not get the exercise they need. I think TV is pretty much an equal balance of good and bad. Good luck with your debate! =)

TV is an entertainment. I really can't understand the meaning for bad. Nothin is bad, all r tryin to learn somethin or the other. Itz all in eyes of a person watchin. As we know life is a mixture of all gud times, bad times, happiness, sorrows, etc.., same are televisions.
