All the miltary experts say it will be a huge mistake to go to war with Iran and that the only way to bring them down is to collapse the economy from the inside. Does congress have the power to step in and say not this time Mr. President.

Yes they can, they can refuse to fund it. If he comes to congress for more money. he has the constitutional authority to protect America in case of imminate danger, I think he has 90 days, after that he must go to congress for money.

I don't know if they want to stop an invasion of Iran. I remember several prominant democratic members of congress (maybe a year or so ago) making the argument that we should not have attached Iraq which turned out not to have WMD and we should attact North Korea and Iran because they do. Of course, the presidential elecection is coming up so you may be right and the democrats in congress may become more anti-war if they think it will get them the whitehouse.

Remember that W was going to attach Iraq without congressional consent. The democrats in congress back then insisted that they be given a chance to vote on it just so they could be on the record as voting for the war (nealry unanimous with only one or two not voting) . Once they saw poll numbers turn against the war they wanted no part of it.

Mark my words. After the democratic nominee is selected the candidate will suddenly turn more to the right to try to win the election.

Remember the words of George Stephanopolis. When asked why Bill Clinton signed welfare reform into law after promising that he would not. GS, "The president has kept all the promises he intended to keep".

I don't think Congress is going to have to stop an
invasion of Iran. I heard Pres. Bush say that we
were not planning to invade Iran, so why do people
keep saying that's what will happen? If we had a
real strong President, we'd drop a bomb on them
sooner rather than later. Iran is a menace to the
World.

What's with all the hysteria over the never-going-to-happen invasion of Iran? Bush said he wasn't going to invade or attack Iran.

And, if people had the brainpower to actually think, they would understand that an invasion of Iran would not be practical, and would open up a host of other problems. Then there's the military impossibility of us being able to do it.

I think all this is just another leftist bogeyman, to get all worked up and hysterical about, so they can scream and shout and call Bush and Reps names. But it is a hysteria over something that won't happen.

Congress has to vote on it. You have an entirely incorrect view of the this president and the power he wields. The liberals press has made you paranoid.

Don1t you think George already has his hands full with Iraq
and Afghanistan? The military is already stretched pretty thin
and it costs a lot of money to fight these types of war.I am
sure now George knows that we can not afford it. don1t pay
attention to liberal scare tactics..
