Lille were still organizing their wall when Ryan Giggs struck a free kick calmly into the net. Were Lille ripped off. I think so, and the drunken hic fergusen should shut up, because his team bent to the rules again.

As most people know, it is ILLEGAL to take a direct free kick quickly when the keeper is still organizing his wall. He wwas cheating so he should not be commended it is like congratulating somebody after embezzling millions of dollars. Giggs should be fined, and something should be done, he is not brilliant, he is a cheater and Man United bent the rules to beat a small French side, shame on them shame on English football.

I totally agree with you mate.

99 times out of 100 the referee would have blown his whistle and the free kick would have been re-taken. Beckham did it for Man Utd back along.

If this was Chelsea then everyone would be slagging them off big time by calling them cheats. Well I'm slagging Man Utd off - the cheating scumbags.

By the way some of us have drawn proper teams like Barcelona tonight, not small poxy French clubs who don't even play at their own ground in Europe.

It is not illegal at all. Ryan Giggs asked the referee if he could take a quick free kick and the ref said yes. Once the ref had moved away it was ok for any Manchester United player to restart play.

The referee does not have to blow his whistle for the free kick to be taken, he can give the team the option of a quick free kick or to wait for the whistle.

If Manchester United had been given a free kick from in their own half, took it quickly and passed it upfield for Giggs to score would there be the same argument? I don't think so.

Maybe Lille should take a leaf out out of Danny Murphy's book. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder used to line up the wall from the other side so the goalkeeper could cover the open side of the goal, eliminating the chance of a goal similar to Giggs'.

Once the referee walks away the ball is in play. He doesn't have to be watching

Last season Thierry Henry did the exact same thing to United and it counted as a legitimate goal.

Lille are just such an inexperienced team they have never probably had it happen to them before.

It was perfectly legal what Giggs did.

Afreaid it was perfectly Legal - they do it with Corners and Throw ins as well , although Lille should not of acted the way they should , ill be surprised if you dont get a fine for it, Man United were treated like animals last night

Shows the disgrace of world football at the moment

It is obvious that Giggs asked the ref if he had to wait for the whistle (which a player does not have to, unless the ref tells him to) In which case it was a legitimate goal, and if I may say so an excellent goal scored by one of, if not the best player the English game has had the privilege to witness.

No. There goal was the result of a foul, and the ingenuity and quick thinking of Giggs should be commended. It's the difference between a good team and a great team

you obviously have absolutley no idea what you are talking about, so when henry did it ? it was fine, you like the entire lille team + coaching staff should brush up on the rules.

i have already posted this, if ronaldinho had done exactly the same in the world cup, we would commenting on how quick, skillful, and clever it was, but because its MANCHESTER UNITED theres a public enquiry. typical thick gooner with his head stuck up his own ****, don't post shite again.
