Yes there have been a few legitimate sightings of live Giant Squid. Here is a link to an article describing one of these sightings:

many many years ago, possibly. I believe that is where the leviathan and cracken myths came from. Recently, the only way living humans and giant squids have come into contact has been via video.

A japanese team has successfully videoed a giant squid attacking a bait line. It's pretty awesome footage if you're into that sort of thing

They captured one a few months back, the worlds only confirmed sighting. It was in the news, dont remember when it happened.

Yes, i did saw some in my to trip Hokkaido in Japan!
I saw them in the Hokkaido Aquarium, and even in the seafood Market. ( The one's in the market were dead one's ) But in the aquarium the had some bigger than a human~ With those horrific eyes, bigger than my head~

In Australia, there's one even bigger, but dead in a big ice capsule.

yea, google that and you'll get pictures of this japanese sailboat from a while back that caputred one. Thing is HUGE!!
