Do you think sex education in the Philippines would lessen the curiosity of the young to experiment on sex?
How would it help lessen the number of young offenders (teenage rape, etc)
What do you think are the reasons why sex education is hard to handle in Philippine schools?

It depends on how it is introduced or discussed in class. It must be presented objectively, with the least malice as possible much like any other subjects. I remember right after our first class on sex education we had a quiz, so there's no time to laugh about and from then on we took the class seriously. If it were presented otherwise, like visuals that look like porn, then it will only create more problems. I think it all depends on close supervision of DECS on these schools.

I do not think it will stop the curiosity but it will educate them properly of the do's and don't of sex. Most of these kids learn about sex only through pornographic materials which does not teach them much especially about safe sex, sexually transmitted diseases and relationships between the opposite sex. I was able to chat with a Filipino teenager about sex education. What I found out was shocking! His still thinks that pouring Sprite or softdrinks on the female organ kills the germs or semen.
A softdrink or soda is "acidic" and can therefore prevent pregnancy! That you do not use condoms especially if the girl is still a virgin. That AIDS-HIV is a disease exclusive to gay people and people like him could never get infected. No wonder AIDS-HIV in the Philippines is growing at an alarming rate.
Unfortunately the Catholic Church in the Philippines opposes this type of education at all levels. In fact they have aggressively lobbied against a law which supposed to introduce birth control and other reproductive methods for women in the Philippines. The law was never passed.
We must face the fact that kids are becoming aggressive and would like to experiment especially with sex. Whether we teach them or not, they will do it anyway because of peer pressure. We might as well teach them in hope they become more responsible of themselves and avoid getting diseases or worst get pregnant at a very early age.

I'm not sure. But, I never had sex education in Grade School (although, knowing about the body systems may count? Well, it also included the reproductive system), and I turned out fine. And the people before us. BUT... I would appreaciate it much if more attention is turned toward family planning. The catholic church is so against as if they're feeding each and every hungry mouths in the streets.

When they start reading all those romance pocket books before they can even start reading, when the first movie and all movies they ever watch are romance filled tear jerkers type, when teachers themselves are also of the same, when the church advocates early marriages without family planning, when Pinays are so naturally romantic and Pinoys are notoriiously 'baba-eros', and when everyone goes paro paro....boom boom boom...babies, babies and runaway boyfriends again and again.
The TV is probably the best way to educate the masses about sex education. It nots about the sex, they should feature about the social and economic decline you are facing now, the after effects of a population explosion and perhaps people will be a lot more careful and practice safe sex.
2/3 of your population spent their time watching Tv every evening, you must have at least 10 TV stations but none of these I see aired....except...WOW WOW WEE amd all theose tear-jerker soap operas again and again.........
The more affluent in your country are having less kids, they know their gameplan in life and stuck to the game. Learn from them and prosper together with your country.

Sex ED is desperatey needed. Also the catholic church must go away! Root of all evil they are.
This will never cure the curiosity of the young. They will always be curios. Curios with condoms makes less babies that no one can support. CONDOMS. They need to learn this word and product. Girls shouldn't listen to guys that "don't like" them. Soooo many single mothers ..... soooo sad because most of them are very nice, but unfortunate ....
