Yes Dubai has become very very expensive....I have stayed in dubai since more than 13 + years.I used to pay a rent of AED 8-10,000 for a 1 b/r hall + balcony & 1 1/2 baths big kitchen & today we are paying AED55,000 for the same kind of 1 b/r appt.Even 5years ago we were paying a rent of 1 br was 20,000dhs only. The condition is going so worset & out of control that we cant even think of relocationg our residence anywhere else even if its cheaper, you never when the same thing will happen again.House rent doesn't come alone, you have to pay for the maintenance charges of upto 2000 dhs,the W & E charges, the groceries, childrens fees, medical bills, office or showroom rents, etc. There is no end to this list of expenses. The prices of burger from a small Cefeteria used to 2:50dhs & today it prices upto 4:50 dhs.
Living has become very much difficult.Expenses are so many that every year around more than 100 families go back to their native country to struggle with the expenses over there & start over again.
Families who hav more than 2 children suffer the most, but people do what they want.I know a person who has 5 kids & a wife in India & working as a driver & property finder his salary is only 1900dhs p.m with a air ticket which can be redeemed after 1year.Now tell how will he takecare of himself & his growing children in India.
I myself have 2younger sibling and that too girls who are 13 & 14 years old & i'm 21 years old.I & my father are the only bread winners in teh family.I just hit off with my career 2 years ago & still teh expenses dont come down .For us three sisters getting married won't be an easy go thing.
So Guys just chill & earn as much as you can but better take care of your health because that will cost you more in Dubai.

In the newspaper the other day, it said cost of living went up by 28% just in the last year alone which is the highest in the entire GCC!
You can chalk that up to greed on all the owners of apartments and other services (including the government).

I disagree...its not that bad! @ dev bedi: why investment in Jumera is not good at this time? We were thinking to buy a villa in Jumera and live in it until here. What other areas are good then? Budget is no problem...already have a house and 4 other properties back home, this time thought to buy something here. Thanks.
