As a 25 year old that STILL suffers from breakouts and oily skin, I feel your pain, and think I can help.

The first thing I want to tell you is don't overdry your skin. Many ppl with oily skin make this mistake. And honestly, it makes some sence. If you have oily skin, dry it out, and your problem will be solved. But this will actualy make your problem worse. Basically what happens is your skin gets dry, and it trys to create oils to moisturize it, on top of the oil your skin already produces, and this will make the problem MUCH worse. But handeling the problem is possible.

1. Get some blotting sheets. Now i've tried many different brands, from the expensive designer ones, to the store brand ones sold at my local pharmacy, and in my experience they all work the same. I get them from CVS, they cost about $3. I keep a pack in my purse, in my bathroom, and next to my bed. They contain no medicine, all they do is take the oil off you skin. And they can be used while you have make up on.

2. When choosing makeup, choose one made for oily skin. If in doubt, read the igrediants, if it has any oils, you don't want it. I won't suggest a particular brand though, since everybody has different prefereces, skin needs, and budgets.

3. Believe it or not, you do need to moisturize your skin. Now you may think i'm crazy, and I thought this was crazy too. But since i've started, my skin has calmed down alot. Look for one made for oily skin, that is water based. What I do is squeeze it on my fingers, and first rub it onto my cheeks, then rub the rest on my face. Do this AFTER you've used an acne medicine. Zapzit is the best acne cream that I have found, and many of my friends swear by it as well.

4. Take a break from the make up for a few days. I know this can be hard, but it will be worth it. Give your skin a chance to breath, and the oils a chance to calm down.

5. For me personally, I find that washing my face too many times a day over dries it. So most days, I only wash my face to wash off the makeup. The rest of the time I use an astringent. What I do is run the astringent over my face, put on my zit medicine (even if my skin is not broken out) then moisturize. If you tend to have sensitive skin, this may hurt your skin. If this is the case, try an astringent made for sensitive skin. And actualy, most estiticians reccomend NOT overwashing your face.

6. Try a facial mask. Clay based masks are best for oil. If you do not have sensitive skin, I would reccomend doing this a few times a week. If you do have sensitive skin, cut back. Be warned though, occasionly when you start using a mask, it can actualy draw out your "gunk" from your pores, and you might break out a bit. But if you keep up with it, your skin will clear up.

7. Be sure to drink plenty of water. This doesn't help so much with the oil, but it will help with the pimples, and is also very good for you. Try to just keep a bottle of water with you at all times, in your car, at your desk, by your bed, in your purse, etc. It can be hard if your not used to drinking lots of water, but once you start, it becomes second nature.

8. This may see obvious, but try not to touch your face alot. The oils and dirt on your hands can worsen acne, and oily skin. If you do need to touch your face, wash your hands first.

Thats all I can think of now. If I think of more I will add it. And if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. Take care, and good luck! :)

Hi :) first of all you need to have a good skin care routine. If you still have the ocassional acne breakout, you may need to head to a store which stocks products like Dermalogica and MD Formulations which have great products for acne prone skin. Their facial scrub, facial wash and oil control moisturisers are great and help control oily residue forming on your face. The oil free moisutirser act asa great base for makeup to go on without it penetrating the skini and clogging pores or sliding off in a couple of hours.

Second of all, you need to get some mineral makeup becasue i merely sits on the face and even if it gets absorbed into ur skin a little bit wont harm it or cause break outs. Try I.D Essentials which is great, If nothing else get their loose foundation powder and brush which you can apply over your face all over, it is in powder form but sets really well and wont glide off because it also helps absorb oil.

Third make sure you cleanse your skin free of all makeup everynight before bed and put some oil control moisturiser:)

Fourthly, try buying some 100% tree tea oil (i know i said oil but bear with me) and using a clean cotton tip bud, dot it on ur breakout, Its strong and might tingle a bit but dont worry it will zap it cos its a natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal agent.

Last but not least, always keep blotting papers handy in your bag to blot your T-zone and perhaps a travel size mineral foundation (you do get them in the ID range) to freshen up:)

Also remember not to do any physical activities (like gym or a jog or even yoga) while wearing makeup because your skin needs to breathe.

Hope all this info helps:)

Cheers.

Lavender oil is an essential thing for getting rid of acne. Just put a few drops on a cotton ball and then see what dirt can come off of your face. Cheaper and more effective than Clearasil or those other products. Also, what you eat shows up on your face, start by straightening out your diet. If you get one of those big pimples that are deep and are almost like a cyst on your face, take an aspirin put a single drop of water on it and when it gets mushy apply it to the cyst-like area and then cover with band-aids....criss- cross, over night of course, cannot go walking around like that. Do this until it disappears, you will notice amazing instantaneous results over night but sometimes you cannot get rid of it completely over-night.

Use Biore' Pore perfect!! I've been using that and its helping a lot! ( i had the same problem) Use their pore minimizing scrub and astringent. I think they have some sort of spray for oily skin. Just go to walmart target cvs w/e.

I hope I helped

p.s. and when using a scrub apply with a wash cloth in as hot water as you can stand. (that helps exfoliate)

how many time a day to you wash your face? believe it or not the more you wash yoour face the more oil your glands will produice,,, limit face washes to twice or once a day.

whay kind of make up are you using? make sure you use oilfree make up... if you use drugstore makeup, its worth getting the good stuff, like lancome, i use it and i have never had a problem with it. drug store makeup has added chemicals and oils that your skin does not need!!

make sure you wash your brushes and spongers monthly, this will keep you from transfering bacteria from your brushes to your face which can lead to breakouts...

hope these tipss help out..!

It dried my face up! I was so excited my nose ring stayed clean and my face looked good. have you ever washed you hand and after you always need lotion.... trust me give it a week, wash every morning and night.
