My son received his 360 for christmas gift Dec of 2005 and the production date was 12/05/2005 . There is no reciept due to a gift and he has been calling Microsoft for months about issues. Hes 16 and they are telling him that it will cost upwards of close to $200.00 to send out and repair. Does anyone know if there is a way to get this thing fixed under warranty? Its doing all the normal rhings...3 red lights, freezing up and very noisy. We don't have the money for repairs. Thanks in advance for your help.

The warranty of the Xbox is only 1 year. Unfortunately this means your Xbox is just out of the warranty period.

There is nothing you can do except asking the Xbox support to be a bit accomodating to the fact, that it's just 2 months out of warranty. Maybe they'll help you, as long as there weren't any accessories like external cooling stuff involved.

However, try the following suggestions on the website below, to find yout if you can solve the "three red light" problem yourself:

Sorry to hear that. I had a similar experience with my first 360, but it was the day I brought it home, so I was just able to return it to the store where I bought it.

I also know where you're coming from with the whole "calling MS for months" problem. My roommate's 360 broke down last year (the power brick blew) and he sent it in to MS. It was about $100 to get it fixed, but when MS shipped it back, they didn't include his hard drive. Months later, with many broken promises from MS and many hours spent on the phone with them, he finally just went out and bought a new hard drive.

Also, those early manufactured 360 units were rife with problems (some estimated that 10-15% of them were defective), so it's not surprising that your unit broke down.

I guess my point is this: MS doesn't really know what they're doing in terms of customer support/service, and your best bet would be to take it to a local game store or electronics store and see if they can help you out. Otherwise, you may just have to bite the bullet and get a new unit.

There's really nothing that you can do because the warranty has already expired. Have you tried your local game store and see how much it would cost for it to fix the 360? Try a bunch of different electronic repair shops, and I think you will come across a store that's willing to fix the 360 within your budget.

If he's been calling for months, MS should have fixed it because it would have been within the 12 month warranty period.

You just need to buy an inter cooler fan for your Xbox 360 and buy an xbox360 ac adapter.
Its bad that u dont have warrenty if u have warrenty than u dont need to buy ac adapter because u can change your original xbox 360 adapter to x360 adapter
