The Protestants wear orange, the rest of the free world wears green. In the US, if you are a school child and you are not wearing green, you get pinched. But you know, orange and green go well together, so it all works out, fashion-wise!

Well, from one of the websites I saw, people wear orange to fight the exclusion of homosexuals on St. Patricks Day. The first website I found was this:
http://members.aol.com/MrGayPride/OrangeOnStPats.html
Also, the flag of the Republic of Ireland is green, white and orange. Here is the web address for that piece of information:
http://www.answers.com/topic/irish-flag
There is also an organization called The Orange Institution, or The Orange Order, who are a group of Protestants from Northern Ireland, who choose to wear orange on St. Patricks Day to commemorate the saint. Check out this website for more info:

Have fun!

the orange is for the protestants,they do it to protest against st paddys day,a big reason being the irish nationalist are mostly catholic and protest the orange order(protestants) marching down catholic areas. catholics protest these marches because the orange order is a racist and bigotted organisation,they march for 2 months celebrating their victory of 1066,they sing songs that are violent and taunting for exapmle one goes
"singing up to our necks in fenian blood,
surrender or you'll die...."no wonder we don't want them marching around huh? the irish flag goes
green=irish catholics/republicans
white=peace
orange=protestant/british
this shows how the irsh desire peace and unity amongst the warring factions.
most people wear green as that is the traditional color associated with ireland. saoirse(freedom),tiocfaidh ar la(our day will come)agus(and)
erin go bragh(ireland forever)!!!!!!!!!!!

The one on the other side from "St. Patrick" was William of Orange. I understand that "Orange" was the good guy.

Who are they????
Tell me so I can make them mend their ways! ;-)
Only recalcitrant Prods would do that, meaning people who have the compulsion to show that they have nothing in common with those Irish.
