Hmm, I'm not sure about that. I do like a person who's a film buff though. My brother in law has literally thousands of films and he's a very interesting person to talk to. Infact I find that with alot of people who are into movies. It may be a coincidence but maybe it does develop a person's character.

I believe everything you see and hear has an impact on developing your character. Socially conscious films like Blood Diamond or Hotel Rwanda or even Crash can give a person direction in their life by opening their eyes to the world. At the same time, someone my try to emulate a character they identify with from a romantic comedy. Mainly though, movies we have seen become part of the filter through which we see the world.

I'm not sure it can develop character, but some of the more intelligent films do question your opinions, beliefs, thoughts and feelings. But only if the viewer lets them.
For example; "Crash", "An Inconvenient Truth", and even "Mr & Mrs Smith" have some wise words of wisdom in them that make your brain kind of shift gears.
I like how many of the films I saw when I was younger and didn't really care much for have sort of lurked up on me as I've matured and their messages have finally made sense- a physchological morphing kind of thing.
Well, that's my two cents worth!

Absolutely. Even though most films are fictional, it still allows viewers the opportunity to learn. People may learn simple things, such as words, phrases, geographical landmarks, locations and the latest products. The more a person learns, the more confident they become in knowledge......and in character.

No, not at all.
Movies should develop a character, but not the viewer's.
